EVP, General Manager,
Hailing from Boston, New York City, San Francisco, Chicago, New Orleans, Buenos Aires and now Detroit, Mel is passionate about building teams and telling stories that get results. As coach, starter, closer and occasional middle reliever, she has spent the past 20 years serving in any role necessary to drive her clients’ business forward. It seems fitting that she is now GM of the 180-strong McCann Detroit team. Also, it’s clear she’s a big baseball fan.
Mel’s specialty is in leading complex pieces of business. Her past includes 10 years on McDonald’s which spanned Global, National, Regional and client-side assignments. These partnered her with literally hundreds of franchisees, company clients, suppliers and partner agencies. When not working Mel spends time with her husband, Karl and dog, Skooby Doo.
EVP, Chief Creative Officer,
With an unparalleled passion for creativity and an eye for meaningful, effective campaigns, EVP, Chief Creative Officer Bill Cimino has a long history of achieving incredible results for the world’s biggest brands. Over his more than 25 years in the ad business, he has held top positions at major agencies in Chicago and California and taken home every major creative award in the industry.
Most recently, Bill was Chief Creative Officer at Y&R Chicago, where he served as Global Creative Director on the McDonald’s account, leading his team to win 13 Lions at the Cannes International Festival of Creativity and the Gold Effie for Sustained Success. He is a transformative creative leader who approaches his craft with a simple philosophy: The most effective way to unleash the power of a brand is through storytelling.
EVP, Chief Strategy Officer,
With 30 years of strategic brand planning experience, Kris has an impressive track record of creating strategies that achieve measurable results.
Before joining McCann Detroit, Kris served as EVP, Global Chief Strategy Officer, for Hudson Rouge in Detroit and New York, where she led the business and communication strategy for Lincoln across key global markets in the U.S., Canada, China and the Middle East. Prior to that, she was EVP, Chief Strategy Officer, at Blue Hive Shanghai. She has also held senior strategy roles at Team Detroit and Young & Rubicam, where she led global product and strategy development immersions and created brand and communication strategies to drive integrated messaging.
As Chief Strategy Officer for McCann Detroit, Kris brings a unique global brand-building vision, extensive strategic experience and a fresh, creative outlook to the team.
EVP, Director of Operations,
Gail began her adventures in advertising spending the first half of her career with Young & Rubicam, where she focused on operational and financial processes with an emphasis on building and leading teams. This ultimately led to her promotion to VP, Traffic Manager, of a 40-plus person department serving both Y&R and Wunderman.
In 1999, following the completion of an independent consulting project for Wyse Advertising in Cleveland, Ohio, she joined McCann. Since her arrival, she has been responsible not only for the amazing Operations team, but she also has oversight of agency process and systems development. She has been instrumental in moving the agency towards more heavily automated agency workflow and studio systems, including our current Digital Asset Management system, view360, along with our internal desktop photography studio, shoot360.
EVP, Executive Digital Creative Director,
An award-winning creative professional with more than 15 years of experience in creative development and digital strategy, Peter knows how to start the right conversations with customers in the right channels. Having started his career writing websites for Chrysler, Plymouth and Dodge, he has seen firsthand how the digital landscape has evolved over the years, and how it continues to evolve.
Prior to joining McCann Detroit in 2015, Peter held creative leadership roles at Team Detroit and Wunderman. He has created successful digital, mobile, TV, radio and print campaigns for brands including Ford, Lincoln, Ford Customer Service Division, Ford Credit, Salvation Army and General Motors’ XM Satellite Radio partnership.
As EVP, Executive Digital Creative Director, his goals are to ensure that McCann Detroit is firmly at the forefront of the ever-changing digital arena, and that our creative work is always compelling and effective.
EVP, Executive Creative Director,
Mark is driven to create work that touches people. He is a student of the consumer and loves getting at life’s shared truths. With 28 years of experience, he is passionate about building strong brands and loves finding new ways to engage people.
Mark’s brand stewardship can be seen in the award-winning Pure Michigan tourism campaign and in the energy behind Michigan’s business marketing evolution. His unique vision has helped develop brands like General Motors, The Detroit Medical Center, Karmanos Cancer Center, Charter Cable, Domino’s Pizza, Colonial Williamsburg, Priority Health and Ameriprise Financial.
Mark also enjoys keeping up with his three boys and playing acoustic guitar, and he’s always ready for a good game of pool.
Chief Financial Officer,
As a finance guy and a Spartan, it’s no surprise that green is Mark’s favorite color. But he thinks of red as the color of success: “It’s about endless energy.”
Mark joined McCann Detroit as the Chief Financial Officer in May 2013. Prior to joining McCann Detroit, Mark spent more than 14 years in senior financial leadership roles at other agencies including BBDO Detroit, Universal McCann and Goodby Silverstein & Partners.
Mark began his career in public accounting, spending time with Ernst & Young in the Audit and Assurance practice. Mark holds a Business Administration – Accounting degree from Michigan State University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Mark is married with two children. He enjoys sports and spending time with his family.
